About SET

We are a registered charity and an authorised Distributive Environmental Body who administer and make Grants from funds made available from the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) (previously the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (LTCS)). This funding scheme is authorised by HM Revenue & Customs and its regulatory body is ENTRUST. The principle donating Landfill Operator to SET funding is Viridor Waste Management Ltd (administered by Viridor Credits Ltd) and we are exceedingly grateful to both these organisations for their constant and continuing support.

SET started in 1999 and administers and awards Grant Funding to Suffolk based community and environment qualifying schemes many of which often find it difficult to raise funding elsewhere. We fund a diverse and wide range of community and environmental projects including work on community buildings, village playgrounds, improving disabled facilities to meet requirements of Disabled Discrimination Act, environmental improvement (habitat and species restoration) and historic buildings.

We receive around £300,000 of Grant Funding each year from Viridor Waste Management Ltd and this is allocated on a quarterly basis to qualifying projects by the SET Board of Trustees based on the funding priorities and guidelines set out elsewhere in the website.
