Funding & Guidance > Eligible Categories / Objects
To qualify for Grant funding, projects must fall within the scope of one of the Eligible Categories / Objects:-
Object D) The provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or other public amenity in the vicinity of a landfill site. The word ‘environment’ is interpreted in its widest sense and includes the built environment. This category includes the creation or improvement of parks, recreation areas and nature reserves, community greens and woodlands, village halls, sports facilities and play areas. The creation of car parks, works to public highways, and works in the grounds of Schools, Day Care facilities and Hospitals are NOT permitted. The park / public amenity must not be operated with a view to profit.
Object Da) The conservation or promotion of biological Biodiversity. This includes conservation or habitat management, and purchase of land for habitat creation, to maintain and enhance natural Biodiversity. The intent is to undertake projects that deliver specific targets for habitats on sites with a specific geographical context and they should be for the protection of the natural environment in the context of biodiversity. The Biodiversity Action Planning process itself is not eligible, although research of a specific species within a specific habitat is eligible. There is no public access requirement.
Object E) The maintenance, repair or restoration of a building or other structure which is a place of religious worship or of historic or architectural interest. Projects may include works to churches or chapels, museums and historic community sites or buildings which are open to the public, operated on a not-for-profit basis, and located within the vicinity of a landfill site.
Please note that SET does not make grants for fabric repairs to churches/chapels, and will only fund other works to churches/chapels in exceptional circumstances and where the project can be shown to widen the use of the building and benefit the wider community. We make a separate, block grant to Suffolk Historic Churches Trust (SHCT) who in turn receive and consider applications for church funding. [The contact information for SHCT is: Binkleys, Hall Street, Long Melford, Suffolk, CO10 9RJ; telephone 01787 883884]
