Project Criteria

Funding & Guidance > Project Criteria

The main funding criteria is summarised below:-

Project Location

Projects must be located in Suffolk and be within 10 miles of a registered and authorised Landfill Site [see HM Revenue & Customs web site www.hmrc.gov.uk do search for Landfill Sites and then choose the List of Registered Landfill Site Operators) or for ease / convenience see the separate list for current Landfill Sites which are relevant to Suffolk which can be accessed via the navigation panel.

Not-for-Profit

The applicant body must be a “not-for-profit” organisation

Project Categories. The Trust may only fund projects that meet one of the “approved objects”. These are set out in the Eligible Categories / Objects Note and are summarised as follows:

Object D. The provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or other public amenity

Object Da. The conservation, creation, maintenance, promotion or protection of Biodiversity (the living component of the natural world and embraces all plant and animal species)

Object E. The maintenance, repair or restoration of a building or other structure which is a place of religious worship or of historic or architectural interest

Public Access

If your project comes under Object (d) or (e), there is a requirement that the facility must have full access to the public and we will require proof that the amenity is used or available for use for at least either four evenings a week, or two days a week, or 104 days in any one year. Single-user clubs are not eligible unless they can prove that their facilities are open to the general public and are readily accessible for use / hire.

Churches

The Trust does not fund fabric repairs to churches. Instead it makes a block-grant of LCF monies to the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust (an organisation with both the necessary infrastructure and expertise), to cover this specialist area of funding. The Trust will in exceptional circumstances consider applications from Churches for non-fabric projects that improve the range of use and the accessibility of the building.

ENTRUST Approval

The Trust will need to apply to ENTRUST for project approval for projects that it intends to fund. The Trust will not make a formal offer of funding until ENTRUST approval has been received.

Timing Constraints

Projects should have a realistic prospect of being implemented. The Trust will need to be assured that projects are capable of being undertaken and completed within a reasonable timescale. Projects should start drawing down Grant Funding within 6-months of the award and must finish drawing down funds within 2-years.

Funding Agreement

Applicants will be expected to enter into a formal Funding Agreement with the Trust when funding is offered. This document will, of course, include the conditions of funding set by the Trustees.
